Ep. 139 - Year of The Knock Off: Condorman!

This week we continue our journey into the Year of The Knock Off by looking at Richard Donner's 1978 Superman and why that film still works and how it is still considered one of the high water marks of superhero/comic book films. Then we look at at a series of poor creative decisions made by a then desperate and floundering Disney company and how that lead to 1981's hybrid super hero/spy/comedy, Condorman. 

Ep. 138 - A Muted Response!

This week Nic Cage gets to be Superman kind of, a local comic shop lands a legend for Free Comic Book Day, you can now watch The Last Jedi without all that pesky talking and bleeps and bloops, we take a look at Duncan Jones's Mute (kind of spoilerish just a heads up) and talk about our thoughts on the film and if it being released directly on Netflix helped or hurt it, and Steve challengs Paul to a quiz about product placement in film brought to you by the McPizza™. 

Ep. 137 - Conned Again!

This week we catch up on what we did during our two week hiatus, talk about trying the McDonald's Szechuan sauce, Black Panther making all the money in the world, Rian Johnson throwing out JJ's plan for Episode VIII, Jason is hiding in wait at the bottom of a lake, and we take a look back at this year's Wizard World Cleveland and dicuss what parts work and what parts don't and the perils of dressing up as a super hero, and Paul made Steve a DC comics themed mix tape. 

Ep. 136 - Year of The Knock Off: The Burning!

This week we head away to summer camp as they compare and contrast 1980's Friday The 13th with 1981's The Burning. We talk about what still works and holds up with the counselor carnage of Camp Crystal Lake and the off putting sexual politics of of Camp Stonewater and how Jason Alexander and Fisher Stevens fits into all of it. 

Ep. 135 - Black Panther Prep!

This week Ready Player One put out a new poster that aims for nostalgia but misses the mark, Kung Fury is getting a full length sequel and a Magneto, another well established actor has signed on to play the Joker, we take a look at who Black Panther is as we get ready for his standalone film, and Steve challenges Paul to a game of Jeopardy involving comic book films. 

Ep. 134 - Chainsaws and Boomsticks!

This week young Solo has a long way to golo, we hope Terry Crews is playing Terry Crews in Deadpool 2, Netflix suprised the world with a new Cloverfiled film, we talk about the disgusting amount of fun we had with Ash Vs. Evil Dead Season 2 and what it means for something to feel like 'Evil Dead', and we try to figure out which pop culture characters are looking for love this Valetine's Day.  

Ep. 133 - A Series Of Events!

This week we talk about fun leaving town, Capcom paying a lot of real money for proof of fake animals, Mel Gibson is making a sequel to The Passion of The Christ, we take a look back at the first big comics event series from Marvel and DC and how they shaped their approach to story telling, and Steve quizes Paul on his random comic book knowledge. 

Ep. 132 - Planet of a Few Monsters!

This week we wonder if we would survive a 24 hour Groundhog Day marathon, talk about the Oscar and Razzie nominations, Superman finding his underwear, and we take a look at Godzilla and part one of his new anime film trilogy, Planet of Monsters, and discuss how he still has a place in our world while destroying it, and Steve tries to figure what songs the Floppotron is playing.

Ep. 131 - Too Funny To Fail!

This week after a 35 year ban on theaters, Saudia Arabia pick a crappy first film to watch, a man angry at/scared by women makes an unwatchable cut of The Last Jedi, North Carolina's new state bird is a pterosaurs, we dicuss the Hulu documentary 'Too Funny To Fail: The Life & Death of The Dana Carvey Show' and the 8 episodes of the series itself and how its failure 22 years ago is still affecting comedy today, and we announce that 2018 is the Year of the Knockoff and take a look at a successful film, 1982's Conan The Barbarian, and its lesser competitor, 1982's Ator, The Fighting Eagle. 

Ep. 130 - Now with Kung Fu Grip!

This week Steve got to see a sexy fish man, Paul was harassed by real people wanting not real things in a video game, some films are becoming TV series, turkeys are taking over a part of Cleveland, we talk about the Netflix series The Toys The Made Us and how the often accidental decisions of grown ups shaped our childhoods and what we love, and we bust out the Nacho Hat to determine which toy rules them all.
